Although Florida
Hometown Democracy submitted more than 814,000 total petitions before
the
January 31st deadline, the State has determined that our
petition is not qualified to make the November 2008 ballot. Why, you ask? Because
the State of Florida still can't count! (Click
here for
the full story.) BUT, as Yogi Berra correctly
noted, “It ain’t over till it’s
over.” Our petitions are valid for four
years from signing, and will count for our being certified for the 2010
election. And so we will persevere in
the long run! You can do your part to ensure
this important reform does get to
the ballot once and for all and into the Florida Constitution by 1)
getting
petitions signed by Florida registered voters and mailed in ASAP; 2) make a donation to keep the campaign
alive; and 3) talk to people you know
about supporting Florida Hometown Democracy.
We’re too close to the finish line to be turned aside now. Let’s charge on forward…there are still MANY people who have not yet heard of Florida Hometown Democracy and have not yet signed a petition. You can easily do your share to save Florida’s future…..get petitions signed and mailed in today. |
