Sign petition to stop endless growth

Palm Bay's plan to sprout up to10,000 single and multi-family homes on the green-space corridor land it recently annexed from the county is a classic example of why Florida needs the Florida Hometown Democracy Amendment.

Palm Bay's city manager Lee Feldman may want Miami-like density in Micco, but that kind of change requires a comprehensive plan amendment. Most comprehensive plan amendments involve a requested increase in density.

The Florida Hometown Democracy Amendment will give voters a veto over local comprehensive plan amendments that have been approved by their city or county commission. In other words, let the people vote!

Voters must understand that growth decisions are political decisions. No developer or property owner is entitled to an automatic increase in density.

When our elected officials, like those in Palm Bay, refuse to protect our quality of life from unending over-development, we must take back that power for ourselves.

We can do that through the Florida Hometown Democracy Amendment. That's why we need your help to put this historic amendment on the 2008 ballot.

We need voters to sign the petition. Go to www.floridahometowndemocracy.com or call (866) 779-5513 for petitions. Do your small part and make it happen.
